Checklist for immigration

Go over these topics with the employee.

Check if the employee needs visa/EU registration/residence permit to come to or work in Finland

Instruct employee to contact a Finnish mission or Immigration Services (Migri)

Show um.fi, enterfinland.fi, and www.migri.fi websites that have more information on e.g. the application process and requirements

Register as an employer in the Enter Finland e-service, where you can e.g. provide further information for the employee's application and submit an employee information for concerning employees who are non-EU citizens

Provide required documents, e.g. signed work contract or TEM 0.54 form (for regular employee's residence permit)

Assist the employee with relevant application and provide further information, if necessary

Save a copy of the employee's right to work (e.g. residence permit) in a secure database and keep them updated. Store the information for four years after the employment.

Inform the shop steward, the elected representative, and the occupational healt and safety representative of the names of all foreign employees and the applicable collective agreements

Inform the local TE office of all non-EU employees and their terms of employment
